Love Story Theme

The love story theme happened accidentally. Or so it seemed - but ultimately I came to believe my grandmother was prompting my writing from beyond the grave!

Why my belief? Because I had no sooner created the characters than they became independent of me - doing their own thing, ignoring the plans I had for them! It was my heroine especially who behaved so willfully - a heroine fashioned to a degree on my grandmother's character.

I'd best explain that grandma had been an actress who gave up the West End stage to marry a foreigner and live with him and his outlandish family in a castle in Czechoslovakia.

I had never understood why she did this, since she had lived for the theater, or why she often expressed her wish for me to write her life-story. It was long after she died that I realized hers had been a most unusual life. But I was no biographer.

A Teenage Love Story

"Julliette! Get up school starts in twenty minutes!" "Mom, for the last time-I 'm taking my time!" "Boys! You get up too!" "Whatever" Yea. That's our regular day at the Paulson resident. Actually, there's two! Mom & Dad got a divorce two years ago. Lovely. West Haven, Connecticut was my hometown. Now I live in small town, West Bend, Iowa. Ahh the memories!

*Flashback*

Lori: hey! you're the new kid, right?
Me: Yea, why?
Kellie: We've heard SOOO much about you!
Lori: where are you from?
Me: Hartford.
Kellie: OMG! Isn't that like, all the way in Connecticut?

Titanic - A Love Story Movie Review

'Titanic' is a love story that captures the romance of two young lovers as the tragedy of the doomed vessel, RMS Titanic, unfolds around them. It was released in 1997 and was a great commercial and critical success, winning 11 Academy Awards (the first to do so since 'Ben Hur') and 3 Grammys.

It was was written, directed, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron, who also won the Academy Award for best director. 'Titanic' became the highest grossest movie of all time, earning $1.8 billion at the box office, until it was surpassed in 2010 by 'Avatar', another movie by James Cameron.

The story concerns two young people from different social classes - Leonardo DiCaprio appears as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet has the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater - who fall in love while aboard the doomed maiden voyage of the Titanic in 1912. Although the love story is fictitious, many of the characters - crew and passengers - were based on those who were actually aboard the real vessel.
